Welcome to the Crooked Moon

Hey, I'm Brian. Guitar, some vocals, co-songwriter, and the guy who set up this whole silly thing you just joined.

I wanted to write this first post myself because this community was my idea, and I wanted to explain why without it sounding like a press release.

Here is the short version of how The Riverstones happened. Rachelle and I had known each other for years but had never actually played Celtic music together. Then one night we ended up at a Young Dubliners show, caught each other's eyes across the room, and realized we were both completely in our element. We started talking and pretty quickly made plans to build something around that shared love of Celtic music. Steve and Greg came into the picture not long after, and what we found together, this Celtic Americana sound, this "I just crossed an ocean and now I'm heading west in a whole new country" kind of folk rock, feels more honest than anything any of us have done before. That is not something you take for granted.

We named this community the Crooked Moon Club after a line in All The Saints. If you have heard the song you know exactly which one. If you have not heard it yet, it is on the demo playlist and a pretty good place to start.

We decided pretty early that trying to build something real in the middle of the social media dumpster fire did not sound like much fun. What we wanted instead was a place where the people who actually care about what we are making can be part of it as it happens. Not just hear the finished songs when they come out, but be there for the rough stuff, the decisions, the moments before the thing is done. That is what this is for.

We have a show on March 14th at The Belfry in Sisters with Five Pint Mary, a St. Patrick's Day celebration that is going to be a good time. If you can make it out, come find me after. I will be the one tuning between songs and pretending it was intentional.
